Treasurer Alison Robinson, Wendy Parry offered to assist

Membership Secretary Lorraine Cooper

Kit Secretary Pauline Hughes

Club Promotion Kath Playfair

These positions and nominees were agreed. Julie thanked Sue King, our retiring Committee member, for her efficient work over the years.

Kath Playfair asked Helen to provide an overview of last season so she could use it to promote the Club.

3.Tournaments

Julie gave an overview of two of the Tournaments the Club had entered:

Ribble Valley – nine teams supported this Tournament held over two weekends, our U12s being victorious for the second year running. The children gave 100% at the Tournaments and overcame the teething problems which were reported back and taken on board by the organisers for the following weekend.

Louise Dulhanty raised the difficulty the combined U13B team had in playing with players they were not used to and against A teams of other Clubs. Julie offered that the Club tried to provide opportunities for all who had expressed an interest and unfortunately the groupings included a mix of A, B and C teams.

Pontins – U11s, U13s, U14s supported this weekend Tournament and all teams bonded and placed well in the competition.

Julie stressed the importance of both parents and players adhering to the code of conduct at these Tournaments so as not to damage our professionalism and to maintain our Club reputation.

Julie advised we were unable to support the Chester and Rochdale Tournaments as these dates clashed with other commitments. Julie has asked organisers that dates for future Tournaments be provided at the beginning of the season to enable us to plan in advance.

4.Leagues

Last Season – Julie reported the U12s, U13s, U14s and U15/16s were represented in the Winter Reddish League played every Sunday at the Stockport Ball Hall with the U14/15s continuing in the Summer League.

All age groups were represented in the Greater Manchester Junior Netball League played at Wright Robinson.

Next Season

All age groups will possibly be entered in the Greater Manchester League. U14s & U15s may play in the County League, playing fortnightly on a Tuesday. U15s and above will play in the Bolton League which plays every week either on a Tuesday or Wednesday. There may also be an opportunity for some Year 10 and Year 11 players to play in the Manchester Evening League.

It was agreed that there were pros and cons of being part of the Reddish League and Team Managers were asked to liaise with parents and players as to whether they would like to re-enter after looking at other options available. If a combined U12/U13 would like to enter then it should be run on a squad, not team, basis in order to promote personal development for all willing players. Helen agreed to produce a list of those interested.

Equipment – Mario reported some items of Club equipment had disappeared from storage at the Sports Hall. Carol advised lockable storage would be a solution, possibly available through the Community Committee. Julie and Carol advised they would be attending a Building for the Future meeting on 5 August to look at options for a possible future training venue.

Christmas Do

The Club will be holding a Charlestown’s Got Talent night, the U15 have agreed to coordinate the talent on the night, date to be advised via the website.

6.Sponsorship

Helen advised that we had received sponsorship which would go towards subsidising hoodies to complement the dresses worn by the older age groups. A letter of thanks will be sent on behalf of the Club. Julie agreed to get sample sizes for the girls to try.

7.Any Other Business

Subs – Jan queried the cost of entering the Bolton League and how this and the Club subs would be managed. Julie confirmed the costs - £40 to enter and £8 umpire – and agreed to look at the figures to make it a fair contribution for players. Barbara asked for confirmation of subs for each League. These will be confirmed once Leagues entered.

Fundraising – Lucy asked could she organise another sponsored walk – agreed. Christie asked could we do another bag packing, Helen agreed to liaise with Lorraine. Kath Playfair suggested we make donations to charities through our fundraising efforts.

Kendal advised of a Fun Run in Worsley Woods on 13 September if the Club wanted to participate.

Kendal asked if contact details for the players could be made available on the Website. Helen confirmed Team Managers hold contact details for their age groups. Coach and Team Managers’ contact details will be available on the Website for the new season.

Julie reminded all about the Presentation Night on Friday, to bring medals or trophies won throughout the season and thanked all for supporting the meeting.
